The second installment of the annual EMERGENCE fashion show dedicated to creative liberation. Produced by Gaia Wu, Sabrina Marley, Tatiana Butterfly, and Vega Vosbeek.

Local QT/BIPOC designers teamed up to create over 20 collaborative looks exploring how rage, peace, and grief can manifest through fashion. A space for collective release. Presented 09/15/24 at Lovely Day, Oakland.

ORGANISM: Bubbles, mudcracks, anatomy. Fractal forms arise and decay along with us. Every moment matters, What does it mean to live in a society so disconnected from land? To be lost in space? We heal through nature. Wearing it brings us closer. (Re)creating it makes us one.

VULNERABILITY: Chainmail is a tool of war, yet armor protects. Stabbing a human heart with a needle thousands of times became a ritual to openness. A prayer to feel. The fronts we put up hold us back. Armor weighs us down. Release.

OUROBOROS: We had a rage party. We smashed stuff. We released. We connected. We made something new. That’s what this piece is.

ORGANISM: Chainmail, stones, shells, stainless steel hardware. Mask by Sadie Greyduck. Skirt by Indigo. Modeled by Vega Vosbeek.

VULNERABILITY: Chainmail, felt, stainless steel hardware, lace. Skirt by NuAngelix. Modeled by Vii Void.

OUROBOROS: Glass, soft solder, stainless steel chain & hardware. Made in collaboration with Mariah Zahra. Skirt & top by Mariah Zahra. Modeled by Ora Younis.
